About Don Arnold
Sydney born photographer Don Arnold, is widely known for his extensive experience across the arts, music and entertainment industries. From live performances to studio driven campaigns, he has documented news and cultural events, collaborated with actors, musicians, politicians and cultural leaders from all over the world. His work has frequently been published in leading titles.
Don’s first foray into photography began both suddenly, and by accident, after a workplace incident cut short a semi promising cricket career. Quite naturally, his first photographic efforts were for the Sydney Cricket Association. Having previously completed a Sociology degree and with over a decade’s participation in juvenile justice and social and criminal justice settings, he transitioned to professional photography full time soon thereafter.
Over the past twenty years Don has worked closely with Getty Images, for whom he has been the recipient of numerous in- house awards, including the 2019, 2021 and 2022 Asia Pacific Entertainment Photographer of the Year. During this period, he has covered events such as the ARIA and AACTA Awards, Royal Visits, Mardi Gras, Australian Fashion Week, David Jones and Myer Fashion shows, the Melbourne Cup Carnival as well as hundreds of concerts, media calls and movie premieres. Many of these events have seen Don working as part of the official team of house photographers.
As well as editorial, commercial and public relations assignments Don has also photographed opera, theatre productions, dance, film premieres and tv stills. Commercial clients include Australian Pork, Disney, Foxtel, City of Sydney, McDonalds Australia, Sydney Dance Company, iTV, Madame Tussauds, Paul Newman’s Own, Sydney Tower Eye and Slazenger.
